Lonliness dominates you. You can hide it well, but its there, and your friends can see it. You constantly feel alone, and need to do things to fill your time. Your afraid to tell people this, but sooner or later it gets out in a bad way, and you think you screwed up everything. And when you are in love is when you are sad the most. (Please Vote)
What Emotion Dominates you? brought to you by Quizilla
"You must remember this, a kiss is still a kiss". Your romance is Casablanca. A classic story of love in trying times, chock full of both cynicism and hope. You obviously believe in true love, but you're also constantly aware of practicality and societal expectations. That's not always fun, but at least it's realistic. Try not to let the Nazis get you down too much.

*Sigh...*
So Eric left on Friday for a scuba trip in Canada & I can't talk to him until Tuesday when he gets back. Gosh I miss him. I'm not really sure when I'll get to see him next, either -- I'm going to Baltimore this weekend for the Pavlovian Society mtg., so it might be 2 weeks before I get to see Eric again. Sadness... :-(
In other news, I finally got a chance to go home this past weekend -- I hadn't been there since July! We went out Friday night to celebrate Dad's b-day. And then Saturday I got fitted for a bridesmaid dress (for the 2nd wedding I'm in next year), & then Dad & I worked on my car a bit (oil change, new air filter, new wipers, etc.), & then I got to play with Matt & Holly's puppy, Colt (too cute!)! :-) On Sunday Mom & I worked on sorting the last of the stuff left in my room (there's still a little bit more to go through, but we got through the bulk of it). So, all in all, it was a nice weekend... the drive kinda sucked, but it was worth it. :-)
Well, time to get rested up for class tomorrow morning.
Till next time...

What a crazy week this has been!
Classes are going well so far, but it's quite a bit more reading than I'm used to, especially for the first week of classes. It's do-able, but it's gonna take a lot of work.
Things are starting to progress in the lab. We're working on reorganizing & putting plans together for our future research. Hopefully we can get started on stuff soon (esp. on my 1st year project)...
The week ended nicely... Eric arrived Thursday evening to spend the weekend with me. On Friday we went to Cedar Point -- it was SO much fun! There was hardly a crowd there at all, so we got to ride pretty much everything that we wanted to. Then Friday night was the annual Psych student pub crawl... it was fun -- probably too much fun! And then yesterday was spent watching football...two of my teams won -- Albion & U of M -- unfortunately, Kent State's football team kinda sucks, so I don't know how many of their games I'll be going to (if they're free, I might try a couple, if nothing else than to see the marching band).
Now it's Sunday... Eric had to go home this morning to get started on a few more landscaping jobs. He's building quite a business for himself -- I'm glad 'cuz it means he's doing what he loves (my only hope is that that's what I'm doing...).
Well, I need to get some stuff done around here so I won't be so frazzled during the week.
Till next time...

Life as a grad student...
Mood:
party time!
Well, I haven't technically started classes or research yet, but I just finished a week long of orientation, so that's close enough.
I know this will make me sound like a dork, but I am really really excited to start grad school! While I'm not looking forward to my 8:30am stats class every Monday & Wednesday, I am looking forward to getting started on the research. But, there may be a bit of a delay there: due to the renovations being made in Kent Hall, the lab is just too dusty & disrupted to work in right now, so my advisor has decided to shut down the lab for a couple months. In the meantime, he's planning on helping me get "up to speed" on what all has been going on in the lab so far & refocusing some of our research. This will be good in several respects: since my advisor is planning on focusing more on the research, that will be beneficial to my career as a researcher; & since the lab is shut down for a little bit, this might give me a chance to learn some of the procedures (e.g., animal surgeries) that another lab is using. So, things are looking good & I'm really excited about it. :-)
Ah, what else? I still have to work at the quarry this weekend (provided it doesn't rain all weekend)... this will be good, 'cuz I still need a little bit of money to cover rent. Also, this will be the 2nd to last weekend I'll be working there -- I'll most likely have to work Labor Day, & then we have a festival the next weekend, but I really need to go home, so I'm really hoping I can get out of that.
Well, I think that's it... I'll probably update again after my first week or so of classes.
Till then...

blah, blah, blah...
Mood:
not sure
It's been rather uneventful around here lately, but I figured I needed to do another update.
Eric visited me for a couple days early last week... then I got rained out of work on Wednesday & with already having Thursday off, I decided to go back to Michigan with him for a couple days. I wish I would've been able to stay longer, perhaps getting a chance to call up & visit a few of my friends back there, but alas I had to go back to work on Friday. Hopefully I can get a chance to head back & see some friends soon (I'm starting to go through withdrawal here...). I'm thinking that once classes start, I'll actually have more of a chance to do that, seeing as how I'll have a normal schedule to rely on, rather than the weekly & daily guessing game at the quarry.
Which brings me to another topic: the quarry. While it's been great to have a good-paying summer job complete with a nice tan, it hasn't exactly been the best job in the world. The people I work with are great, so at least it has that going for it, but it can be just a big headache some days. Oh well... it could be worse -- I could be working in a factory again. I'm hoping that I'll be able to find a nice little side job next summer to add some extra income when I'm not working on research.
Well, I guess that's about it... more to come later...
