Another Update...
Mood:
lazy
Well, it's been a little while since my last update. Not a whole lot has happened since -- pretty much all settled into my apartment & learning my way around Kent & the surrounding areas.
Work has been going well. I've been getting more hours lately, so that's always a good thing. The quarry hosted a festival over the 4th, so that was a bit of an experience... lots of hippies. Next week should be interesting -- the quarry will be taken over by the Insane Clown Posse for their annual "Gathering of the Juggalos". Myself & the other 6 guards will be required to be on duty 10-7 each day, as well as taking shifts in 2's overnight. From what I've heard, it's actually a very organized event & we shouldn't have any problems, with the added benefit of making a lot of money, so it's all good. I'll give y'all a full update after it's all over.
Things with Eric are going well. He visited me over the holiday weekend... it was great having him here, but unfortunately I had to work during most of his visit. I got Tuesday off, though, so we got to spend at least that whole day together. I'm not sure when I'll get to see him next -- hopefully soon... I'm gonna start going through Eric-withdrawal soon! haha
Well, that's about it. I'm going home to Indiana tomorrow for a couple days -- I've got an eye appointment, plus it'll be good to visit the fam a bit, too. :-)
Till next time...

Finally, an update!
Mood:
chillin'
Hello there!
Well, I'm all moved in to my new apartment here in Kent... have been for a couple weeks now, but it's finally starting to feel like home. I'm still working on the decor a bit, but the bulk of it is there & it's looking pretty good. :-)
I've been getting a few hours lifeguarding at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park . It's been a bit of a challenge, just getting used to the type of patrons, the different parts of the quarry to guard in (some require using a kayak), etc. To sum it up, basically ya really can't trust anyone to operate on logic except the other guards out there. That & I'm learning to be more confrontational, so that's been a bit frustrating at times, but it's getting easier.
Other than that, not much else is going on. I've made a couple small trips... one to Michigan to visit Eric & one to go home in Indiana for the day. Eric actually had a job interview in Cleveland last week -- the job turned out to be one he wasn't entirely interested in, but at least he's getting some more interviewing experience. He did get offered a job near home that he's a bit more interested in. It would be nice if he could find a job in Cleveland, but we'll make it work if he decides to take the job in MI.
Well, that's about it. Till next time...

So it's true... you ARE what you eat!
You're chocolate. You're the old soul type, people feel that they have known you their entire life. Many often open up to you for they view you as thoughtful and trustworthy. Although people trust you, you have a hard time trusting them. You prefer to keep your feelings bottled up inside, or display them very quietly. It is alright to open up every once in a while.

so much STUFF!
So I'm in that "in-between" stage -- in between college & grad school, deciding what's important & necessary enough to move with me to my new place... in the mean time, it looks like the basement exploded 'cuz all my stuff is EVERYWHERE! I'm starting to make some progress, though, but some times I just stare at the pile & wonder "what next?"
I got back today from being in Kent for the past few days. I went for the annual Tri-State Animal Learning & Behavior Conference that was held at Kent State this year (I believe it will be at Purdue next year... yay, back at the home state!). In addition to getting to know the biopsych faculty a bit better, it gave me a chance to see some of the ongoing research that's going on. I was especially interested to see what directions Dr. Fountain's lab is going in, since I'll be working for him during this next year. I must admit, though, that I found some of the other topics a bit more interesting, but who knows -- perhaps once I get into it & really get involved in the research, I might take more of an interest. Let's just say that I'm trying to keep an open mind about it all.
In addition to the conference, I made my way over to Kent Village to get things finalized for my apartment. Looks like I should be able to move in during the 2nd weekend of June... not as soon as I had hoped, but it'll do. I had wanted to get there sooner than that so I could start lifeguarding & get some cash-flow started for the summer... so that will be delayed a bit. However, Kyle & Erin are being very generous & letting me crash at their place Memorial Day weekend, so I'll get to work that weekend & see if this lifeguarding job is all it's cracked up to be.
Hmm... what else? Oh yeah, so Eric's been looking for a job. We spent some time online looking for some possible job opps in the Cleveland/Akron/Kent area... I'm really hoping he can find something worthwhile enough to move to Ohio w/ me. But if not now, hopefully in the next year or two he can move out that way.
It seems like everything is changing fast, but in a good way. I still don't think it's all sunk in yet -- perhaps when I finally move into my apartment I'll start feeling more grown up. But for now, I'll just get back to my sorting & day-dreaming...
Till next time...
