such items having to do with my experiences diving. Check it out!
My First Dive
My first dive was during the fall of 2002 while I was studying abroad in Australia. During our orientation, we
had a day on the Great Barrier Reef, off the coast of Cairns. It was AMAZING! If you ever get a chance to dive
there, DO -- you'll thank yourself for it!
Since it was an introductory dive, I really didn't have to do anything except breathe. I must admit, it was a little
scary at first, but it was so amazing, I soon forgot that I was scuba diving at all & just took it all in.
The dive company we were with was called Passions of Paradise. The crew was a lot of fun & made the whole experience even that much more memorable.

Gettin' Certified
While I was abroad in Australia, my boyfriend, Eric, was taking a class to get scuba certified here at Albion College.
He really enjoyed it & already had some trips planned for us, so I decided to take the class the following semester, Spring
2003.
The class was run by two instructors from Sub-Aquatic Sports & Service out of Battle Creek, Michigan. After several weeks of classes in the college pool, during spring break I did my open
water dives in West Palm Beach, Florida to become officially NAUI certified!
West Palm Beach, Florida
Ah, beautiful West Palm -- a very pleasant place to do some open water dives. Our first day contained 2 skill dives
done off a beach. Nothing too exciting, but enjoyable nonetheless. The following 3 days were spent on a boat provided
by Jim Abernethy's Scuba Adventures. Jim took some wonderful video footage of our dives that week and compiled them into a video that we ordered -- great
quality stuff -- way to go Jim!
Some of our dives included the Princess Anne wreck & Shark Canyon. Check out a couple of the pics below!
